Memory Verses
The Bible reveals God to us, the way of salvation, and truth and wisdom for life. It is powerful to save us and transform our lives, but not like a magic spell (as if it has power if it is said out loud, whether or not we understand it). We are transformed by the Bible as we meditate on it (see Psalm 1 or Romans 12:1-2) - meaning we remind ourselves of what it says, think about what it means, and seek to have the truth it communicates move our hearts and change our outlook. There is great value then in memorising Scripture, because it allows us to more easily remind ourselves of biblical truth, at any time, and counsel ourselves and others with it. As a church, we memorise a memory verse together every month (February to November). We use the ESV version.
Memory verses from 2025:
2 Timothy 3:16-17:
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Romans 11:36:
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
Romans 5:1-2:
1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Hebrews 10:24-25:
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
John 13:34-35:
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Revelation 5:13:
13 And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”
Matthew 28:18-20:
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Ephesians 4:15-16:
15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
2 Timothy 2:1-2:
1 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men,[a] who will be able to teach others also.
Hebrews 3:12-13:
12 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
